Caught Dolphins for first time on the 180SF!

PostSun Jun 22, 2014 10:26 am

Went out Friday out of Islamorada. Weather was fabulous and seas super calm. Went far out 10 miles (for me) for the first time and trolled close to weed patches from 250' to 400'. Nothing. Earlier we stopped at some weed patch and caught schoolies. My son felt sick and I returned to leave him. Went back to try to catch snappers but instead I drifted next to a weed patch at about 100' throwing Bonita chunks and a ballyhoo on a flat line. I didn't notice I was at 50' when my 1st keeper hit. Other schoolies took all my ballyhoo so I put a sardine out. Then a big thing hit and went down. After a 10min fight I found it was a nice shark about 5' long. Don't know type. Have no pictures because I took video. Also caught this huge Flying fish (12") with the Bonita chunks. A very nice day in general. My wife cooked the Mahi and Oh my! Best fish ever! I need more!!
