Getting the 180SF bloody :-)

PostTue Aug 27, 2013 12:58 pm

I went yesterday to this reef north of Boca Raton inlet at about 100'. The big rods rods dropped down with live pin fish got nothing. All fish were caught with my light tackle rod (7.5' & cheap Fierce 4000, 12lb line) with a very small #6 hook floated on the chum using these small dead shrimps (got them Saturday) that seemed to be much better in a shrimp cocktail than for bait. But had a lot of fun pulling a lot of jacks and the rainbow runners. That reel drag got tested hard! Also got some nice yellow tails for the first time. And even a little tunny got one of those shrimps. Kept that for belly strip bait. Those three shown on the deck came all in a 5 minute period, My arm was hurting. Nothing better than solo fishing on a nice day. Love my little boat :D
