Prop for baysport 175

PostSun May 14, 2017 9:09 pm

Just got a 2006 baysport 175 with trip and a yamaha f115. The motor has a 3 blade 13 1/4 × 18 yamaha performance prop on it now. It will run 41 at 5800 with one person and a full tank. I have raised the motor one hole to the third hole from the top and this has helped with hole shot and handling. After running this boat for a while I feel that this prop doesn't get full performance from the motor. I wanted to see if anyone has a recommendation for a better prop. I am also thinking of getting a 4 blade instead of a 3 to give me a better cruise range. Thank you

I wanted to give an update. I got a powertech SCD3 13x18 pitch prop today to try out. This is the prop that the boat should have come with. The holeshot is much better now and the I am able to easily get to 6000 rpm with me in the boat. Top speed is now 43 mph and at cruising it looks like it increased the mpg also. I think that with raising the motor and changing to the clever style prop it runs much better now.

Thanks for the update! I always love hearing performance numbers on the 175 Baysport and 180 Sportfish, as those are the 2 models I'm most interested in. Does your 175 have a T-Top? Post some pics! Would love to see it!

Yes it does have a T top. I am hoping to run some more this weekend with a heavier load to see how it does. I will post some pictures of it later. Thank you.
