tachometer

PostSun Jan 08, 2017 1:47 pm

Hello All,
I recently purchased a nice 2012 197 SF with a Suzuki DF140. The tachometer on it doesn't have any of the indicator lamps and I was wondering if it would be a major chore to put one in. I had the panel off yesterday to fix the horn button and I noticed some empty plug-ins in the wiring and was also wondering if they could be part of the installation. Thanks in advance for any info I can get.

I'm not familiar with the Suzuki's. I installed a "smart" gauge on my Mercury without much problem.

What wire runs to the gauge depends on how the dealer rigged your boat. worst case you have to run a new connection cable and install the new gauge. (not to hard on a 197). Best case the connection cable is there and you just install the new gauge, plug and play.

If you can find where the cable connects to the ECU on your motor you can tell what cable you have.

I saw these on the suzuki site and they look nice.

Good luck.

Thanks. I'm using the boat in the Florida gulf and I want all the gauges and info I can get. Here's hoping for the plug and play. I got the Fighting Lady Yellow too. I like going out to the garage just to look at it!

Agree. I get a lot of info from my mercmonitor and it shares the data with my lowrace.

There is a Suzuki motor forum on the bass boat central site. May be worth posting there. I get most of my merc info at BBC.

Let us know how it turns out.

I used the NEMA 2000 network to connect my Mercury 250Pro (by way of connecting the Vesselview4 to the network) to my Simrad NSS12 Evo2 MFD. It is great! Instead of flipping pages on the Mercury vesselview 4, all info is available on the Simrad now and I can specify what I want to see and where.

Yes you can buy the about $100 NMEA cable and use your MFD to display the data. I did that with my DF150 and DF115.

Got it done. You were right. It was a piece of cake. The boat was all set up for it and just a plug and play.
