What does CHIRP mean it comes to fishfinders/plotters?

Electronics, projects, motors, drives, props, drill some holes, etc.

I'm researching accessories for my 2017 197 SF retirement boat and I keep seeing "CHIRP" in connection with fish finders/plotters and no explanation of what it is. Can someone enlighten me?

Quick google search provide a lot on this. Below is a decent one on the whole terminology. Basically CHIRP provides more resolutions. I think at this time everyone should get it and it is mostly standard on all reputable units.

Thank you Pioneer 180 for your help. The amount of information can be a little overwhelming at first but now I know where to look. Thanks again.

If you only get a small amount of cash upgrade the CPU first before the GPU as that looks to be your bottleneck at the moment.
