Wiring Question on 187 Cape island

PostWed Sep 21, 2016 7:41 pm

HI Guys

I have recently purchased a new Pioneer 187 Cape Island.
I am trying to install a sounder at the front but am having no luck with getting my wiring there.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?

Thanks in advance
Chris

I thought about it also but it did not appear that there was any practical way to get wires there. The only way that I could come up with (and did not do) was to tap of the wiring going to the front navigation lights and use them in parallel with the light. On my boat, I replaced out the front light with a plug in model to make it legal for night time operation with a trolling motor installed. It would have been easy if a chase had been placed there. Most boats would have had a trim button mounted at the front so that the motor could be trimmed up from the front, but not pioneer.
Have a great day!

there are rigging tubes behind the two vertical access plates. you'll see the bow light wires coming out of the starboard side tube.

the hard part is getting the wires up into the console.....

Gday all,
To run my power wires up to the front, I removed the Nav light wires and joined a length of cord/thin rope and pulled the wires back to console.
Once the cord is at the console, add your new wires and another length of cord and pull it back up to the front anchor well. Just need to manipulate going through the tube near the console and up near the front deck inspection ports.
I run the extra cord for if I ever decide I want something else run up to the front it is in place and ready to go.

Cheers
