Rewiring a Cape Island

PostSun Aug 28, 2016 6:18 am

I saw an excellent post on re-doing the wiring under the console in a Cape Island but can no longer find that link. Does anyone know when and where to locate that post. This member cut a new hole to place an electrical control box and removed all the old confused looking connectors and put on a new buzz bar and switch panel. It was a really professional job and I would like to do that too.adding a fair bit of new electronics.
I am ready to do that full rewiring as I previously saw if I can find that articledoes anyone know that link please?

those pictures are somewhere...

i'm working to re-wire mine now. i had a new panel built, cut a new hole in the console (starboard side) for a new access door/hatch, and am slow progressing to fit stuff before i start pulling out the old wiring.

i'll post a couple photos of my project.

the panel built for me. (i made the wood frame)

the problem is that there is only 4" clear between the console side and the wires coming from below. there's only 5" at the top because of the throttle/shifter cables. So i had to cut the dropin box and add a back.

i still have to figure out how to run all the wires in and out.

here's my wiring diagram.

you can run multiple GPS's off one switch with terminals if needed.
