Fuel Gauge

PostThu Oct 09, 2014 3:21 pm

I have a 2005 197 with the digital gauges. The fuel gauge indicates full even when fuel level is much lower. Electrical contacts or sending unit? Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would first check sending unit. I am hoping you have a access port above your ful tank and can remover your sender unit. A quick power on and moving the tank sender should moved tag fuel indication. Move full deflection and no fuel qty movement will prove your sender unit is broken. It is simply a adjustable rheostat, the restistance changes as fuel level changes.
