Fuel vent issue while filling up. Some help please

PostThu Aug 14, 2014 7:01 pm

New Islander and I've filled up probably 10 times this summer with no issues so far. Tried to fill up this afternoon (from 1/4 of a tank) and I could barely squeeze the gas handle without it overflowing and water kept coming out of the vent?? I basically had to barely squeeze the handle to fill the whole tank. What's the deal here and how do I correct it? Please tell me there isn't water in my tank.

If you can get to the vent hose, where it attaches to the tank, disconnect it and blow it out, then reconnect. It seems to either have gotten gas in it and it has a dip in the line holding the fuel or something else is stopping up the vent line. New ones have a internal vent, lord knows what happens if that goes bad, no damn way to get to it (got to love gubermint requirements)
Have a great day!
