There are cameras at the Pier, the Washout, and at Morris Island...great for checking out conditions. This site is from Folly Beach, South Carolina, but there are a zillion others all around the world.

Also, you can Google "live surf cams" to find all of them...you will be amazed. It's cool watching the surf at Pipeline in Hawaii just for grins.
